When I think about it, you know, things been going swell
I’m alive and I’m love. What the hell?
For a little while now I’ve been sittin’ on the top
I’m just waiting for that other shoe to drop
I’m just waiting for that other shoe to drop
I’m just waiting for that other shoe to drop
I’m just waiting for that other shoe to drop
She got a look the way I like it
Got a walk I find exciting
Give me shivers at the base of my spine
I’m feeling clumsy and heroic
Like a jibber jabber stoic
I still cannot believe that she is mine
I can’t believe that she’s mine
When I think about it, you know, things been going swell
I’m alive and I’m love. What the hell?
For a little while now I’ve been sittin’ on the top
I’m just waiting for that other shoe to drop
I’m just waiting for that other shoe to drop
I’m just waiting for that other shoe to drop
I’m just waiting for that other shoe to drop
She leave my pupils so delighted
That the ambience is brightened
Every time that she walk into a room
Things been going right since she danced into my life
She leave me feeling just a little less doomed
Just a little less doomed
I think she’s in my corner
Yeah I think she’s on my side
I think we’re copacetic and in sync
I gotta drown these doubts
Or I’m sure to muck this up
Right now I think I need another drink
When I think about it, you know, things been going swell
I’m alive and I’m love. What the hell?
For a little while now I’ve been sittin’ on the top
I’m just waiting for that other shoe to drop
I’m just waiting for that other shoe to drop
I’m just waiting for that other shoe to drop
I’m just waiting for that other shoe to drop
I’m just waiting for that other shoe to drop
I’m just waiting for that other shoe to drop
I’m just waiting for that other shoe to drop

I’m haunted, haunted
too many ghosts to name
I’m haunted
they linger just out of frame
I’m haunted, haunted
I’m not sure I’m sane
I ask them what they want from me
They tell me I’m to blame
Ooh
Well some of it was party haze
and some of it’s confusion
It’s really just convenient
To blame it on the boozin’
Don’t believe in guilty pleasures
I take what I can get
But those ectoplasmic bastards
Keep stomping on my bet
I’m haunted, haunted
too many ghosts to name
I’m haunted
they linger just out of frame
I’m haunted, haunted
I’m not sure I’m sane
I ask them what they want from me
They tell me I’m to blame
Ooh
well some of it was learning
Most of it was growth
Navigating this and that
As victim, guest and host
You know I try to say my sorries
Do my penance when I can
But regrets and shame and should’ve-dones
Wreak havoc with my plans
with my plans
I’m haunted, haunted
too many ghosts to name
I’m haunted
they linger just out of frame
I’m haunted, haunted
I’m not sure I’m sane
I ask them what they want from me
They tell me I’m to blame
Ooh
I’m to blame
I’m to blame
I’m to blame
I’m to blame
I’m to blame
Ooh
I’m haunted, haunted
too many ghosts to name
I’m haunted
they linger just out of frame
I’m haunted, haunted
I’m not sure I’m sane
I ask them what they want from me
They tell me I’m to blame
I ask them what they want from me
They tell me I’m to blame
I’m to blame
I’m haunted, haunted
too many ghosts to name
I’m haunted
they linger just out of frame
I’m haunted, haunted
I’m not sure I’m sane
I ask them what they want from me
They tell me I’m to blame
I ask them what they want from me
They tell me I’m to blame

Now we find ourselves in a spot of bother
Long line of blurry days
Pry the coin from the eye to fill the coffer
Got a pocket full of stupid to pay
Now we find ourselves in a spot of bother
Long line of blurry days
Pry the coin from the eye, fill the coffer
Got a pocket full of stupid to pay
Got a pocket full of stupid to pay
Now we find ourselves in a spot of bother
Truth be told it beggars belief
What more could there be to offer
Don’t ya know that time is a thief, yeah
Don’t ya know that time is a thief
Now we find ourselves in a spot of bother
Tomorrow can’t compete with today
Could be one or maybe the other
Gotta wonder what the somebody say, yeah
Gotta wonder what the somebody say
Now we find ourselves in a spot of bother
A long line of blurry days
Pry the coin from the eye, fill the coffer
Got a pocket full of stupid to pay
Got a pocket full of stupid to pay
Got a pocket full of stupid to pay
Got a pocket full of stupid to pay
Got a pocket full of stupid to pay
Got a pocket full of stupid to pay
Got a pocket full of stupid to pay
Got a pocket full of stupid to pay
Got a pocket full of stupid to pay
Got a pocket full of stupid to pay
Got a pocket full of stupid to pay

It seems that there’s a hole in the map
where my soul’s supposed to be
Testing my reflexes like a hammer to the knee
Grasping once again for the right analogy
A glutton for punishment through the gauntlet again
Chain myself to the drilling wheel, taking it for a spin
looked up from the mat and took another one on the chin
Because it hurts I think I love you
Because it hurts you know I care
Because it hurts I’m thinking of you
The ghost of you it haunts my mind
Seen gliding through most any time
Stirring shadows and bending light
Because it hurts you know I love you
Certainly one wonders why
I do the things I do
Bordering perplexity
Another notion yet to chew
An effort to evaluate
I gotta tally up these clues
Because it hurts I think I love you
Because it hurts you know I care
Because it hurts I’m thinking of you
The ghost of you it haunts my mind
Seen gliding through most any time
Stirring shadows and bending light
Because it hurts you know I love you
Because it hurts I do this
What other reason could I need
Questing for an impetus
Saddling that steed
A cat amongst the pigeons
Playing catch with a well
This time might be different
Only time will tell
Because it hurts I think I love you
Because it hurts I think I love you
Because it hurts you know I care
Because it hurts I’m thinking of you
The ghost of you it haunts my mind
Seen gliding through most any time
Stirring shadows and bending light
Because it hurts I think I love you
Because it hurts you know I care
Because it hurts I’m thinking of you
The ghost of you it haunts my mind
Seen gliding through most any time
Stirring shadows and bending light
This time I’m gonna get it right
Because it hurts I know I love you

The wrong side of the bed
I stumbled off the line
I feel like all the rules changed
and muddied up my mind
I’m sounding the retreat
I couldn’t care less ‘bout the time
I’m heading for my blankets
while the sun still shiny shines
This day’s been going wrong
since the moment I awoke
my heart went down in flames
my hopes went up in smoke
this entire day seems hellbent
on heading south
this morning chose to greet me
with a punch right to the mouth
I’ll be in my bed
just waiting for the night
to wash away this day
and bring the morning light
I’ll be in my bed just waiting for the night
trying to keep bad luck at bay
so I can start tomorrow right
Keep bad luck at bay
My baby ran away
just as I was chasing her
I’m scissoring this day
right out of my calendar
I don’t want to play
you can take your ball
and ram it, sir
this clock goin’ spin around
and topple these parameters
I’ll be in my bed
just waiting for the night
to wash away this day
and bring the morning light
I’ll be in my bed just waiting for the night
trying to keep bad luck at bay
so I can start tomorrow right
Keep bad luck at bay
Keep bad luck at bay
I’ll be in my bed
just waiting for the night
to wash away this day
and bring the morning light
I’ll be in my bed just waiting for the night
trying to keep bad luck at bay
so I can start tomorrow right
Keep bad luck at bay
I’ll be in my bed
just waiting for the night
to wash away this day
and bring the morning light
I’ll be in my bed just waiting for the night
trying to keep bad luck at bay
so I can start tomorrow right
I’ll be in my bed just waiting for the night
trying to keep bad luck at bay
so I can start tomorrow right
Keep bad luck at bay
Start tomorrow right
Keep bad luck at bay
Start tomorrow right
Keep bad luck at bay
Start tomorrow right
Keep bad luck at bay
Start tomorrow right
Keep bad luck at bay
Keep bad luck at bay

I’d like to impart wisdom
I’d like to share some hope
Thirteen coils of knot-work
With more than enough rope
Showing things that are known
Make a case for to believe
Straighten up your back my friend
And toughen up your knees
Then again, you see
Then again, you see
Then again, you see
The future ain’t what it used to be
Hey, hey
Making a change
Got a list of things
that need leaving behind
It seems deranged
To find these ideas intertwined
Thought it arranged
Sorry ‘bout your luck
But the pockets are lined
Then again, you see
Then again, you see
Then again, you see
The future ain’t what it used to be
The future ain’t what it used to be
Hey, hey
Sure it was implied
Guess it shoulda been agreed
We would leave behind
What you and yours would need
But this here handoff
The baton’s been set afire
from the corner of your eye
You’ll see the smile of a liar
Then again, you see
Then again, you see
Then again, you see
The future ain’t what it used to be
Hey, hey, hey!
Hey! Hey! Hey!
Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!
Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!

Whiskey and woe, bourbon and loneliness
Why do the sad songs make us smile?
It’s risky I know, just to acknowledge this but
These songs have been sad for a while
A little slur slides into the wee hours
A hazy stretch of moments into fugues
Another drink, or sleep? It’s this question again
And another song dips its toes into the blues
Whiskey and woe, bourbon and loneliness
Why do the sad songs make us smile?
It’s risky I know, just to engage with this but
These songs have been sad for a while
The napkin rings step up as bar room canvas
Pretended laughter conceal staggers in the dances
The blur of bottle glass and cans of liquid glances
No golden ticket in these fluid ounce romances
Whiskey and woe, bourbon and loneliness
Why do the sad songs make us smile?
It’s risky I know, just to remember this but
These songs have been sad for a while
The next drink offers me no answers
No answers
My next drink offers me no answers
No answers
My next drink offers me no answers
No answers
My next drink offers me no

The police killed my dog
They had the wrong address
They busted down our door
and they shot her where she slept
The police killed my dog
They had the wrong address
She wore a collar and a tag and
they wore bullet proof vests
The police killed my dog
I’m not the only one
This seems to be a thing
That the police
do for fun
What’s wrong with the psyche
of those who do this job
These puppy killing monsters
are a different breed of mob
And as I exert labor I know
my taxes go to buy
bullets for the po-po
to shoot puppies where they lie
The police killed my dog
yet again I do bemoan
They broke into our house at night
and shot her in our home
The police killed my dog, yeah
it’s something that they do
and if they type an address wrong
They might next come for you
and if they type an address wrong
They might next come for you
and if they type an address wrong
if they type an address wrong
if they type an address wrong
They might next come for you

I think that smiles lie in the moment
and maybe stones belong in our way
I think I might learn a bit more by hearing
‘stead of thinking ‘bout what I’m next to say
Wisdom, reason, temperance and courage
Memento mori, carpe the day
All in all, said and done,
I’m just a singer and
I’m dancing myself out of my way
A firm grip, a back-pat, a fist-bump,
a shaka, an eye-lock, a hug or a nod
It’s good to be part of the tapestry
and maybe together we’re god
So greetings, affection
so good to see you
you bring a magic to the night
There’s no need to adjust
the stand my friend
we are singers of a similar height
A story teller’s narrative,
Hey, caught within the cadence, yeah
It’s time to take the agency back
paint in the margins
just a dusty corner image
And regret joins the raincoat in the pack
I’m not gonna think about tomorrow
after all there’s only just this
There’s music right now,
in this very moment
I forget about the things that I miss
A firm grip, a back-pat, a fist-bump
a shaka, an eye-lock, a hug or a nod
It’s good to be part of the tapestry
and maybe together we’re god
So greetings, affection
so good to see you
you bring a magic to the night
There’s no need to adjust
the stand my friend
we are singers of a similar height
There’s no need to adjust
the stand my friend
we are singers of a similar height
Maybe joy lies in the center
Hey, maybe it’s already in play
All in all, said and done, I’m just a singer
And I’m dancing myself out of my way
All in all said and done, I’m just a singer
And I’m I’m dancing myself out of my way
I’m dancing myself out of my way
I’m dancing myself out of my way
I’m dancing myself out of my way

You always gotta flick that first domino
piss on the masterpiece
spray your snot on the topiary
you’ve always gotta bring the grief
you gotta kick the rocks to the sidewalk
put your gum underneath of the seat
smear your grime on the walls of the entry
hey everybody, “Me, me, me!”
You’ve gotta be the whirliest of dervish
when the rest of us are carving out a line
spewing out the blatherest of verbiage
from the emptiest compartments of your mind
Can’t see we’re trying to build something here
why you gotta tear it down?
Why you gotta tear it down?
Can’t see we’re trying to build something here
why you gotta tear it down?
Why you gotta tear it down?
Why you gotta tear it down?
Why you gotta tear it down?
Why you gotta tear it down?
You kick at the heels of the drummer of the cadence
so everybody misses a beat
inject your chaos into every bit of order
crossing in the middle of the street
you always sing louder than the busker
when your sad everybody gotta cry
you always go clockwise when entering the roundabout
everybody gotta pause and let you by
Can’t see we’re trying to build something here
why you gotta tear it down?
Why you gotta tear it down?
Can’t see we’re trying to build something here
why you gotta tear it down?
Why you gotta tear it down?
Why you gotta tear it down?
Why you gotta tear it down?
Why you gotta tear it down?
You have no concept of repercussions
cuz you never look a full step ahead
taken to its logical conclusion
a busload of nuns are going to end up dead
Can’t see we’re trying to build something here
why you gotta tear it down?
Why you gotta tear it down?
Can’t see we’re trying to build something here
why you gotta tear it down?
Why you gotta tear it down?
Why you gotta tear it down?
Why you gotta tear it down?
Can’t you see we’re trying to build something here
why you gotta tear it down?
Why you gotta tear it down?
Can’t you see we’re trying to build something here
why you gotta tear it down?
Can’t you see we’re trying to build something here
why you gotta tear it down?
Why you gotta tear it down?
Can’t you see we’re trying to build something here
why you gotta tear it down?
